The One Show concluded its 2024 broadcasts on Friday, with hosts Alex Jones and Lauren Laverne leading a star-studded finale.
The episode featured musical guest Tom Grennan, Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke, and comedians Chris McCausland and Lee Mack.
Chris McCausland, who recently made history as the first blind contestant to win Strictly Come Dancing, was honored during the show.
His victory has been widely celebrated, including recognition from the Scottish Parliament for breaking barriers.
The hosts also discussed the upcoming special, Strictly Come Dancing: 20 Fabulous Years, set to air on Saturday, December 21, at 7 pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
As the final credits rolled, Alex Jones expressed heartfelt gratitude to the audience: ‘We just wanted to say thank you so much to tonight’s guests and thank you to all our guests and contributors who have taken part in the show this year and thanks to everybody who works so hard behind the scenes to put this show together.
‘But the biggest thanks, of course, go to you at home for watching and we’ll see you on January 6th next year.’
The Welsh presenter has worked on the BBC programme since 2010, during which she’s presented alongside Matt Baker, Jermaine Jenas, Ronan Keating and Roman Kemp.
The One Show is scheduled to return on January 6, 2025.
For those interested in reliving the highlights of the 2024 season, episodes are available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.
Its been a controversial year for the show, with former host Jermaine Jenas being taken off air and sacked by the BBC after complaints were made that he ‘sent unsolicited texts to a female staff member at The One Show’.
The 41-year-old former Match of the Day regular later apologised if he made the women he messaged feel uncomfortable and insisted that he never broke the law.
But it seems the show is back on track now and set to make a fresh start in the new year.
