Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) seeks revenge on David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) as the two men find themselves at loggerheads in Coronation Street next week.
As fans of the ITV soap know, David’s wife Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) hooked up with the copper after she learned how her husband had been intercepting messages from her son Clayton Hibbs (Callum Harrison) in prison, determined not to let Kylie Platt’s (Paula Lane) killer back in their lives.
At present, David is still in the dark about Shona’s betrayal, and while it is not yet known if the truth comes out over Christmas, a feud does erupt between him and Kit.
In scenes set to air on 27 December, a row breaks out between them both on the street.
Kit’s biological mother Bernie Winters (Jane Hazlegrove) intervenes to break them apart, reminding her son that David was a good friend to his late brother Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).
When David returns home, he is confronted by Max Turner (Paddy Bever) and Lily Platt (Brooke Malonie) demanding answers.
Still furious about David’s behaviour with Clayton, Shona explains to the kids how David prevented her from seeing her son.
The following week, it’s round two for David and Kit, as David approaches his rival in the hope of duping him into confessing to his crimes regarding paedophile Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper).
As fans will remember, after Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) was suspected to have been murdered earlier this year, Kit caught Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) planting evidence in Nathan’s van to frame him.
Sarah was desperate to get him away from her daughter Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon), who he’d previously groomed, but Kit told her to let the authorities handle things.
Kit then planted some of Lauren’s hair in his van himself, which ultimately resulted in Nathan’s arrest.
David’s plan to bring Kit down is foiled, however, when Kit smells a rat – and the copper then decides once again to take the law into his own hands…
What sinister plot does he have in store for David?
Coronation Street airs these scenes from Friday 27 December at 8pm on ITV1, or stream from 7am on ITVX.
