Coronation Street has confirmed baby Frankie’s diagnosis, and it is heartbreaking news for Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
Frankie was rushed to hospital last week after bruises were found on his body.
Though Gus and Anthea suspected Lauren of abusing their grandson, it was soon revealed that the bruises had been the result of an illness.
The doctors conducted countless tests to ensure they got the right diagnosis, but warned Lauren that Frankie may need a bone marrow transplant.
In tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, the doctor confirmed that Frankie had aplastic anaemia, and would need the transplant after all.
This left Lauren terrified, having already discovered that she wouldn’t be able to be a donor herself.
However, she was given some hope earlier this week when she discovered that Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) was pregnant with Frankie’s half-sibling.
Unfortunately, she was left devastated when Dee-Dee revealed that she was going to get an abortion.

Although Lauren begged her not to, as her baby could be Frankie’s last hope, Dee-Dee explained that she’d made her decision, and Lauren later pointed out to Max Turner (Paddy Bever) that she couldn’t force her to change her mind.
However, that didn’t stop her feeling completely defeated when Max later revealed that he had heard Dee-Dee tell Gus and Anthea that she had had the abortion.
When Dee-Dee later visited Lauren in the hospital, she left her shocked when she revealed that she hadn’t had the abortion after all.
Dee-Dee explained that she hoped her baby could help Frankie, and agreed to be tested to see if it was a match, leaving Lauren relieved.
